Rain, Wind, & Everything In-Between

Emma Peterson

Some of the most beautiful wedding photographs happen when the weather doesn’t go exactly as planned.

A little rain. A strong breeze. Clouds rolling in. The kind of weather that asks you to let go of perfection and simply be present in the moment.

And honestly? Those are often the photographs that feel the most alive.

When the Rain Comes

Emily and Nathan’s early fall wedding brought a beautiful, steady rain, and with it, colors that felt almost impossibly saturated. The greens were deeper, the autumn tones richer, and everything around them seemed to glow beneath the soft, overcast sky.

The rain became part of their story. Rather than hiding from it, they embraced it, and their photographs feel like exactly that: romantic, quiet, and completely of the season they were married in.

When the Wind Joins In

And then there are the windy days.

The kind where your veil takes on a life of its own, your dress moves around you, and your hair catches the breeze just as you’re trying to hold onto each other.

Haleigh and Thomas had one of those days, and the wind brought so much movement and magic to their photographs. Her veil flying behind her, her dress catching the air, the two of them standing together in the middle of it all, it created photographs that feel wild, joyful, and completely unposed.

Because beautiful photographs don’t require perfect weather.

They require connection. A willingness to embrace what the day gives you. And the freedom to let the story unfold exactly as it was meant to.

So if rain is in the forecast, or the wind decides to make an appearance, don’t worry about chasing perfection. Let your hair blow. Let your dress move. Step into the rain. Laugh about it. Hold each other a little closer.

Years from now, those imperfect moments may be the ones that bring you right back to how it all felt.

Stories rooted in wild places, and in all the beautiful, unexpected weather along the way.
